Spoonville is coming!
October 2020
Spoonville is the new lockdown trend emerging across Melbourne!
The wooden spoon gardens are an inventive way of keeping people connected during this isolating time. They help to create a sense of community, send a message of hope and offer a burst of enjoyment for children passing by.
These wooden spoon communities are often found on nature strips and in local parks. And now, the children at the Craig's kindergarten will help create our very own Spoonville!
Keep an eye out for our first Spoonville community at the front of the building, near the footpath. It will be ‘planted’ by the end of next week, Friday 16 October. Please encourage your child to spot our Spoonville community when you next pass by.
We would love for you to create your own character and add it to the garden.

Spoonville tips & tricks:
- Everyone’s spoons are welcome
- Place your spoon in our front garden during your daily exercise
- Secure your spoon, making sure parts cannot blow off in the wind (we do not want to litter)
- 'Spoony people' aren’t keen on dogs – dogs stay back please!
- Come and see the Spoonville community often (but don’t stay too long!)
- Try to resist touching them
- Make sure the spoons can handle the rain – nail polish is great for their faces!
- Have fun!
