'Flying Kites Around the World'
Kite Making Workshop (Age 6+)
Flying kites is such a wonderful activity at any age, but did you know that there’s more to kite flying than an afternoon in the park?
Join us in this colourful workshop where we will explore kite making from various cultures around the world - 'Uttarayan' in India, where thousands of kites fly from the rooftops, the beautiful symbolism of kites in China or the amazing kite fighting competitions of Afghanistan.
Then you will make and decorate your own kite!
This workshop is run by a kite making and flying expert who has been running workshops, making kites and exhibiting in kite festivals all over the world for the last 25 years.
A delicious and adventurous afternoon tea will be provided, exploring treats from various cultures. If weather permits, we will have the opportunity to learn to fly our kites together.
This workshop is suitable for young and old (children must be aged 6+).
Proudly presented by the City of Boroondara in partnership with the Craig Family Centre.
