The Craig Family Centre has partnered with The Fathering Project to run Father and Child programs aimed at strengthening the bond between paternal figures and their children. Historically, the narrative has centred around mothers as the primary caregivers, but we are working to challenge this perception by offering support, resources, and opportunities that highlight the equally important role fathers play in their children's lives. Through this collaboration, the Craig Family Centre has been able to coordinate a variety of initiatives, as you'll see on this page.
Science Week x Fathering Project
During National Science Week, we hosted a special Father–Child cyanotype workshop. Cyanotypes—also known as sunprints—use light-sensitive paper that, when exposed to sunlight with objects placed on top, creates striking blue-and-white images.
Participants created their own unique prints, which were then framed and exhibited in our Community Space as a Father’s Day showcase. This project was proudly funded by Neighbourhood Houses Victoria in celebration of National Science Week.

Mural Project
During the Mural Project, children and their paternal figures painted each other’s hands and placed their handprints side by side on a canvas. These canvases are now proudly displayed at our centre for the community to enjoy. The project provided a special opportunity for fathers and children to bond while creating a lasting memento of their handprints. The contrast in size sparked laughter, serving as a playful reminder of the age and size differences between adult and child.
