Bright Brains Homework Club
The Craig Family Centre is proud to have been providing weekly ongoing homework support to local Primary and Secondary school students for over 10 years, at no cost to families.
Our Homework Club provides a safe and supportive out-of-school learning environment. Primary and Secondary school students from years 1 to 10 can participate in activities that help to develop their academic skills, such as homework, early learning numeracy and literacy, advanced mathematics, essay writing, science and more.
We have helped many young people improve their understanding and engagement at school. Our objective is to help students deepen or re-discover their love of learning and build their confidence. We endeavour to make the student experience fun and the benefits long-lasting.
Whilst the Homework Club is open to all students, evidence shows that high quality Out-of-School-Hours Learning Support Programs (OSHLSP) can be instrumental in supporting students at risk of disengaging from education. The additional support students receive can increase their academic success, foster social connections and improve wellbeing. This may be particularly true for students during this challenging time. Especially children from refugee and migrant backgrounds, and those who are from disadvantaged groups.
Sessions are FREE to local students every Wednesday from 4.00pm–5.30pm during school terms.

Homework Club during COVID-19
In April 2020, our Homework Club moved to remote online learning. We use the platform ‘Zoom’, which allows us to video chat and screen share with students.
To participate in the Homework Club during this time, students will be required to access internet connectivity, a laptop or iPad and Zoom. Where this is not possible, or for students with additional needs, we can arrange in-centre tuition. Please contact or assistance.

Our Tutors
Our Homework Tutors are trained volunteers. Whilst they vary in age and background, they are predominantly tertiary students, many of them completing teaching degrees.
Each of our Tutors has their own specialist areas and are trained in Online Learning and Child Safety. They all hold a current Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
Our Homework Club would not be possible without our dedicated Volunteer Homework Tutors. We recognise and appreciate their hard work and the time they dedicate to helping students improve their knowledge and understanding of their schoolwork.
