Bright Brains Homework Club
The Craig Family Centre is proud to have been providing weekly homework support to local Primary and Secondary school students for over 12 years, at no cost to members.
Our 'Bright Brains' Homework Club provides a safe and supportive out-of-school learning environment for students living or studying in Boroondara and neighbouring suburbs. Primary and early Secondary school students from years 1 to 8 can participate in activities that help to develop their academic skills, such as homework, early learning numeracy and literacy, advanced mathematics and essay writing.
We have helped many young people improve their understanding and engagement at school. Our objective is to help students deepen or re-discover a love of learning and build their confidence. We endeavour to make the student experience fun and the benefits long-lasting.
Whilst the Homework Club is open to all students, evidence shows that high quality Out-of-School-Hours Learning Support Programs (OSHLSP) can be instrumental in supporting students at risk of disengaging from education. The additional support students receive can increase their academic success, foster social connections and improve wellbeing. This may be particularly true for students who are from refugee and migrant backgrounds, and those from disadvantaged groups.
Sessions are delivered FREE to local students living in Boroondara and neighbouring suburbs with Craig Family Centre Membership, every Wednesday from 4.00pm–5.30pm during school terms.

Join the Club!
Local teachers and health practitioners can refer families to our Homework Club. Students and their families can also self-refer to Homework Club.
Students can commit to the year or join us on a more casual basis. It is fun, and it is FREE (with membership)! Students who have homework can bring it in. For younger students, we will provide lots of fun learning recourses.

Our Tutors
Our Homework Tutors are trained volunteers. Whilst they vary in age and background, they are predominantly tertiary students (many of them completing their teaching degrees) or retired professionals.
Each of our Tutors has their own specialist areas and are trained in Cultural Sensitivity and Child Safety. They all hold a current Working with Children Check.
Our Homework Club would not be possible without our dedicated Volunteer Homework Tutors. We recognise and appreciate their hard work and the time they dedicate to helping students improve their knowledge and understanding of their schoolwork.
